I began my journey with OCE back in 2010. My first job at OSP was in the Furniture Factory. I learned skills such as: sanding (finish sanding), sealing, and finish lacquer. I had never done any of these thing before.

Before entering this facility, I had never sewn a day in my life, well, not with a sewing machine. I did however one time attempt hand stitching a silk shirt that I designed and cut out of an old sheet when I was 15 years old.

Voices is a platform for the people in OCE programs to have a platform to speak to the community. Voices consists of both videos and letters from program participants, allowing them to express their thoughts by speaking from the heart. This series offers a chance for the public to see they are people who prefer to speak for themselves. They are aware of the societal climate pushing for change and they are not in complete agreement.

I have worked for OCE for six years as an office clerk in our industrial laundry facility and sign shop. I've handled database management, inventory, purchasing, shipping and receiving. And of course, when I am available, I help on the production floor.

We have received many letters and continue to see more come in. The responses have been fairly well-rounded with a range of positive, negative, and neutral tones. We want to share with you a letter we received from Theophilus. Theophilus resides at Oregon State Penitentiary and works in OCE's Call Center, leading and mentoring others while growing himself.
