IN MY OWN WORDS - ROBYN, CCCF SEWING

Letter from Robyn

Our bosses here at OCE inspire us to grow and learn and step into new responsibilities

""Slave labor"?! Not here at the CCCF OCE Shop! Those of us who are blessed to have one of the coveted, and too few, positions in the OCE Sewing Shop, know that we've found the best place to work, learn and blossom in prison. We wish that the shop was larger, so that all of the women who are qualified and interested could join us. We actually look forward to going to work and willingly volunteer to put in extra hours when there is a project deadline to be met."

We have received many letters and continue to see more come in. The responses have been fairly well-rounded with a range of positive, negative, and neutral tones. We want to share with you a letter we received from Robyn. Robyn resides at Coffee Creek Correctional Institution and works in OCE's Sewing program, tutoring other AICs in a program where she once earned a certification of her own. Her last name has been redacted for considerations of safety and sensitivity. What she has to say in the following letter is real and in her own words.
