"When you first start the program you start at an entry-level position with opportunity to advance. The OCE staff monitors your work ethics and your over all attitude. They provide you with curriculum from whatever program you are involved in such as laundry, call centers, metal shop, furniture factory, ect, ect. When I first started I had no idea of my learned behaviors from being incarcerated unitl it was brought to the surface from this program. With the assistance from the staff and my choices to listen to them. I have advanced in this program position that gives me a purpose while serving my time."
We have received many letters and continue to see more come in. The responses have been fairly well-rounded with a range of positive, negative, and neutral tones. We want to share with you a letter we received from Richard. Richard has spent 20 years in prison and held many positions while with OCE. He has grown as a person during his time in the program. His last name has been redacted for considerations of safety and sensitivity. What he has to say in the following letter is real and in his own words.
