PRISON BLUES

“I feel very lucky to be able to work at the garment factory.  I’ve learned people skills and saved my money for a fresh start upon release.”

the prison blues story

In 1989, The State of Oregon was challenged to create jobs for inmates at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution. After extensive research, it was determined that a garment factory would provide ample jobs and training in a real-world manufacturing environment. A 47,000 square foot factory was constructed, and our Prison Blues© factory began operation.

Inmates seeking work in the Prison Blues facility pass through a detailed hiring process, then are trained by managers with private industry experience. Inmates demand the highest in quality from themselves; they take pride in their work.

When you purchase Prison Blues, not only do you get a quality product that looks and fits great, you also help support a program that teaches inmates the valuable working skills they need to become contributing members of society.
